The University of Minnesota men’s basketball program unveils its 2022-23 non-conference schedule, which features one exhibition and eight home games the first two months of the season.

The Big Ten Conference schedule and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

The Golden Gophers open the campaign with an exhibition game against St. Olaf, Nov. 2, followed by the season opener on Nov. 7 against Western Michigan. Saint Francis visits Williams Arena on Nov. 11. Minnesota hosts DePaul as a part of the Gavitt Games. The Gophers will follow with a Nov. 18 home game against Central Michigan before taking off to San Juan Capistrano, Calif., to compete in the SoCal Challenge, Nov. 21 & 23.

The Gophers will be on the road for the third-straight game when they travel to Virginia Tech as a part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, Nov. 28.  

Minnesota hosts four straight to end the non-conference schedule. For the second-straight year, Minnesota will play Mississippi State Dec. 11, this time at Williams Arena. Minnesota closes out the first half of the season hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 14, Chicago State on Dec. 22 and Alcorn State on Dec. 29.

Looking ahead to the league matchups, Minnesota’s Big Ten opponents have been established with dates and times announced at a later date. The Gophers will play the following seven schools at home and on the road next season: Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin. The Golden Gophers welcome Indiana, Iowa and Penn State to Williams Arena this season, and will play road only contests at Michigan State, Northwestern and Ohio State.

The 2022-23 season marks the second year under head coach Ben Johnson. Minnesota returns six letterwinners, including starter Jamison Battle. The Gophers also welcome eight newcomers to the roster this season.

Season tickets are now on sale for the season. Single-game tickets & mini-plans will go on sale to season ticket holders and Gopher Score Members on Tuesday September 20, and to the general public on Thursday, September 22.
