LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women’s swimming team opened up the 2022-23 season with a 193-120 win over Centre at home on Friday evening.
 
Highlights from the Meet
-The Generals won 13 of the 14 events on the night to come out victorious. Seven different swimmers combined to win 11 individual events, with four Generals providing multiple individual wins.
 
-Leading the way was junior Brynn Martinson (Charlotte, N.C. / South Mecklenburg) who had a hand in four wins, including the 50 free (24.40) and 100 free (53.37), individually. She also swam on both winning relays, as the 200 medley relay swam a 1:50.00 and the 200 free relay posted a 1:40.27.
 
-Junior Sophia Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) came in first in the 100 back (59.77) and 200 back (2:09.37), and she also swam on the 200 free relay, to help the team to three wins. Junior Allyssa Utecht (Malvern, Pa. / Great Valley) also won a pair of individual races, coming in the 200 free (1:58.44) and 500 free (5:25.41).
 
-First-year Paige McBoyle (Short Hills, N.J. / Millburn) rounded out the multi-individual race winners for the Blue and White, as she touched first in the 100 breast (1:08.73) and 200 breast (2:29.24). McBoyle also added a runner-up effort in the 200 IM (2:17.26).
