Box Score | Season Stats | Photo Gallery SAN FRANCISCO – The No. 11/9 Ohio State women’s basketball team (12-0, 1-0 B1G) triumphed over Stanford (8-4, 0-1 ACC) with a score of 84-59 on Friday evening during the Invisalign Bay Area Women’s Classic hosted in the Chase Center.
Both squads began the matchup slowly, but the Buckeyes capitalized on a couple of 6-0 runs during the first quarter to establish a 16-6 lead after 10 minutes. Ohio State sustained a 17-13 edge in the second quarter, entering the locker room with a 33-19 advantage. The Buckeyes maintained a lead of 57-39 with 10 minutes remaining and closed the game at 84-59 after a 27-20 fourth quarter.
Cotie McMahon was the initial player to hit double digits, concluding the contest with 16 points.

Ava Watson (11) joined McMahon in double-digit scoring as all five starters contributed at least 10 points.
How it Unfolded Cotie McMahon initiated the scoring by getting to the free-throw line following a Buckeye offensive rebound, while the Buckeye defense kept Stanford scoreless for the initial 2:45 of the game. Ohio State held a 3-2 lead halfway through the quarter. The Buckeyes executed consecutive layups and formed a second 6-0 run to advance to a 13-4 lead with 2:18 remaining in the quarter. Ohio State had a 16-6 lead after the first quarter.

Ajae Petty kicked off the second quarter with consecutive layups, elevating Ohio State’s lead to 20-6. Petty netted two jump shots, as did
Chance Gray, with the Buckeyes holding a 28-12 lead with 4:31 left in the half. Stanford scored the final points of the half, allowing Ohio State to make their way to the locker room at a 33-19 lead.
The teams exchanged baskets to commence the third quarter before Ohio State fired off eight consecutive points, increasing their lead to 45-27 midway through the period. Consecutive baskets by the Buckeyes heading into the media timeout resulted in a 51-31 lead.
Ava Watson sank two three-pointers in the latter stages as the Buckeyes held a 57-39 lead with 10 minutes to go.
Stanford began the scoring in the fourth quarter, but Ohio State responded with a 6-0 surge, widening their advantage to 66-43 with just under eight minutes left. The Buckeyes maintained a 72-52 advantage at the media timeout, with all five starters having reached double figures at this juncture. Ohio State orchestrated a 7-0 run and ultimately secured an 84-59 victory as the final buzzer sounded.
