2024 All-Star Boys Swimming: Spotlight on Palm Beach’s Finest

The 2024-25 Palm Beach Post All-County squads are revealed!

The Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards is excited to present the Player of the Year nominees for boys swimming and diving.

During the live event, the Player of the Year will be declared along with the teams, coaches, and athletes of the year, in addition to a Courage Award recipient. Nominees will have the ability to register for free attendance, courtesy of our sponsors. Details about the event, including the date, location, ticket information, and registration details will be provided shortly.

The event is produced with the assistance of Baptist Health Orthopedic Care.

The Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards ceremony is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program nationwide.

Benjamin Allahar, Sr., Suncoast

At the state level, placed sixth in the 50 freestyle (21.18), fifth in the 100 freestyle (46.86); state qualifier in the 400 freestyle relay; regional champion in the 50 freestyle, runner-up in the 100 freestyle; district champion in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay.

Lucas Bailey, Sr., Saint Andrew’s

State runner-up in 50 freestyle (20.12), 100 freestyle (45.02), 200 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay; regional champion in 200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay, 50 freestyle, and 100 freestyle; district champion in 200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay, 50 freestyle, and 100 freestyle.

Connor Brinley, Jr., Saint Andrew’s

At the state competition, secured seventh in 100 butterfly (50.82), fifth in 100 backstroke (50.84); regional champion in 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay, and 200 medley relay; district champion in 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle relay, and 200 medley relay, runner-up in 100 butterfly.

Matthew Brisson, So., Spanish River

Achieved fifth place overall at the Class 4A diving championship; Brisson was both a district and regional titleholder in the 1-meter springboard diving event.

Andreas Da Silva, Jr., Wellington

At the state competition, secured fourth place in the 100 backstroke (49.39), ninth in the 100 freestyle (44.71), was runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay, and placed fourth in the 400 freestyle relay; crowned Region champion in the 200 freestyle relay, finished as runner-up in the 100 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay, and took third in the 100 backstroke; became District champion in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, and 100 backstroke, and was runner-up in the 100 freestyle.

William Domokos-Murphy, Jr., Saint Andrew’s

At the state venue, finished in 10th place in both the 200 freestyle (1:41.59) and 500 freestyle (4:37.41), anchored the 200 freestyle relay and participated on the third slot of the 400 freestyle relay that was state runner-up; secured Region runner-up positions in both 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle; was the District runner-up in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

Sean Dowling, Jr., Oxbridge Academy

Claimed runner-up at the state level in 1-meter diving; crowned Region champion in 1-meter diving; achieved District champion status in 1-meter diving.

Julian Granison, So., Wellington

During the state event, finished fifth in the 50 freestyle (20.84), sixth in the 100 freestyle (45.63), was runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay, and took fourth in the 400 freestyle relay; won the Region championship in the 200 freestyle relay, placed second in the 50 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay; emerged as District champion in the 400 freestyle relay, 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and the 100 freestyle.

Charles Howard, So., Jupiter

At the state competition, achieved fifth place in the 100 butterfly (49.20) and eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:42.15); qualified for state in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay; At regionals, finished as runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay, took third in the 200 freestyle, fourth in the 100 butterfly, and fifth in the 400 freestyle relay; crowned District champion in the 100 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay, 200 freestyle, and 200 freestyle relay.

Carlos Flores Pinedo, Jr., Saint Andrew’s

Finished as runner-up in both the 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay, took fifth in the 200 IM (1:52.67), and seventh in the 100 breaststroke (57.25); became Region champion in the 100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay, 200 IM, and 200 freestyle relay; crowned District champion in the 100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay, and 200 freestyle relay, finishing as runner-up in the 200 IM.

Paul Pokatragool, Sr., FAU High

At the state event, finished fourth in the 50 freestyle (20.52) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (46.00); qualified for state in the 400 free relay; At regionals, was the runner-up in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle; At districts, took the runner-up spot in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

Asher Smith, So., King’s Academy

At the state competition, finished in fourth place in the 200 medley relay and secured seventh in the 100 backstroke; earned state qualification in the 200 free relay; crowned Region champion in the 100 backstroke, achieved runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay, and the 200 medley relay; claimed District champion in the 200 medley relay and the 100 backstroke.

Rich Whelan, Wellington

This season, Whelan’s Wolverines attained a team district championship and finished third at the region meet. At state, Wellington had a commendable performance, finishing seventh in Class 4A, marking the highest placement for a Palm Beach County boys team apart from Saint Andrew’s.
