Miami Hosts Groundbreaking Tribal Cybersecurity Summit from February 26-28

TribalHub is set to host its fifth annual Cybersecurity Summit, this year it will take place in Miami from Feb. 26-28.

This face-to-face Cybersecurity Summit follows four years of being an online event. It is designed to provide an avenue for leaders from tribes and tribal enterprises to engage with leading cybersecurity professionals and fellow executives to tackle the significant cyber threats confronting tribes today, as stated by Mike Day, TribalHub’s executive officer and board member of the Tribal-ISAC (Information Sharing & Analysis Center) Steering Committee.

Day emphasized that the event remains a crucial platform for encouraging collaboration, exchanging knowledge, and enhancing the resilience of tribal governments and businesses.

“It is crucial for tribes and tribal entities to gather as much information as possible to fortify their security measures,” Day noted. “As we celebrate the fifth annual Summit, we continue our commitment to equip leaders and IT specialists engaged in tribal governance, casinos, businesses, and health institutions with the necessary tools and insights to counteract constantly changing cyber threats.”

Lee Edberg, cybersecurity director at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Minnesota, mentioned that the summit will provide vital insights to assist leaders in making informed choices, posing the right inquiries, and making wise investments in their organization’s security. “Today, leaders in tribal governance, gaming, and healthcare need to comprehend cyber threats and the role cybersecurity plays in reducing these risks.”

The summit will include keynote addresses, educational sessions, an optional golf outing, and a vendor exhibition. Additionally, there will be a networking event as the summit aspires to empower and inform those involved in tribal governance and enterprises.

“Our data indicates that over 40% of tribes report lacking a dedicated cyber resource,” Day asserted. “This situation must improve, considering the current global landscape. At the very least, leaders within tribal governments and enterprises must be aware of the resources available that can assist them in protecting and securing their organizations – and, ultimately, their sovereignty.”
