Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year as we approach our final Tribune Prep Athlete of the Week survey for 2024.

Congratulations to the victors from last week: Georgia Hatzenbeller of C.M. Russell High swimming and Ben Cunningham of CMR boys’ basketball.

Throughout the competition each week, two girls and two boys will be nominated, with the public selecting the winner through a poll, which are both provided below.

Athletic directors, coaches, guardians, and supporters are invited to submit Athlete of the Week nominations for participants in all sports across northcentral Montana. Nominations can be directed to sports reporter Grady Higgins at ghiggins@greatfallstribune.com.

This week’s poll will remain open until Friday at 11:59 p.m., with the results announced in the next week’s Athlete of the Week article.

Boys Athlete of the Week nominees

This week’s nominees for the boys are:

Kale Baumann, Great Falls High wrestling: The senior achieved a record of 5-0 and claimed the 157-pound weight class at the CMR Holiday Classic, winning two matches by technical fall and pinning three others.

Teagan Dixon, CMR wrestling: Dixon worked his way back through the 157-pound consolation bracket at the CMR Holiday Classic, finishing in third place by securing four pins in eight matches.

Girls Athlete of the Week nominees

And for the girls:

Ella Woldtvedt, Great Falls High swimming: Woldtvedt triumphed in two events at the Great Falls Pre-Relay Meet on Friday, winning the 100-yard freestyle and the 200 IM as the Bison girls secured first place.
