CALGARY – Alexanne Lepage from the Calgary Dinos swimming team recently journeyed to Doha for the short course World Aquatics Championship (25m), where she competed with and against numerous elite swimmers from around the globe.

Lepage commenced the opening day of events with the 4×100 freestyle relay alongside Canadian National Team colleagues Penny Oleksiak, Sydney Pickrem, and Ingrid Wilm. Oleksiak made a strong start, gaining a significant advantage for her teammates to follow. Lepage – who anchored this relay – achieved the fourth best finish with a total time of 3:34.50, allowing her team to move on to the finals. Later that same day, Marie-Sophie Harvey, Summer McIntosh, Wilm, and Oleksiak swam this relay, ultimately earning bronze medals by improving their time to 3:28.44.

On the third day, Lepage participated in the 200-meter breaststroke, achieving a personal best. She began the initial 50 meters in a robust manner, maintaining an impressive pace that enabled her to finish with a time of 2:21.79, tying with Yuliya Efimova for 13th place.

Lepage also competed in the 50-meter breaststroke. She showcased the versatility of her breaststroke skills by exhibiting her sprinting talent. Lepage finished with a time of 30.25, which was slightly above her personal record set last month at the Canada West Swimming Championships.

The Vernon, B.C. native represented Canada in the 4×100 medley relay in the second leg, swimming breaststroke. Her teammates included Kylie Masse (backstroke), Lepage (breaststroke), Wilm (butterfly), and Oleksiak (freestyle).

Lepage will now return to join her fellow Dinos for the upcoming second semester of university competitions, which resumes on Jan. 11 with a dual meet in Toronto.
