LYNCHBURG, Virginia – UT Arlington men’s basketball commenced slowly and seemed unable to escape its shooting difficulties, losing 79-56 on Saturday afternoon at Liberty, despite a second consecutive double-double from forward/center Lance Ware, who ended with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

“We started strong for the first four minutes, but then we fell apart,” head coach KT Turner commented after the game. “We lacked fight and energy, and I’m just disheartened by our performance. A few individuals showed up and kept fighting. That’s what this program represents.”

The Mavs recorded only 23.7% shooting from the field in the first half, and despite a run of 11-1 that narrowed the Liberty lead to 19-18, UTA could not get any closer. The Flames quickly responded with a 15-0 run and never looked back.

UTA managed to narrow the lead to as little as 13 when Raysean Seamster’s offensive rebound and putback made it 44-31. Seamster concluded with 10 points from 5-of-8 shooting along with three steals.

“I just want us to compete,” Turner added. “To compete and execute; we must make plays, but we didn’t accomplish that today.”

The Mavericks wrap up the year with their final non-conference game of the season on Sunday, Dec. 29, at Texas State in San Marcos. The matchup will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and on radio via the Varsity App, 102.5 FM, and KTNO 620 AM.
