Max Verstappen Celebrates Heineken’s Ultimate Player 0.0 Champion!

Recently, the Dutch brewery Heineken organized the grand finale of its global gaming contest, Player 0.0, in 2024. Set during Madrid’s yearly GAMERGY festival, this esports event gathered the most fervent sim racers who competed for the championship title.

Heineken’s Player 0.0 serves as a highlight of its latest initiatives in the gaming sector. In 2023, the brewery partnered with Le Pub Brazil to develop a “Beer Matchmaking” service that linked gamers via a specialized platform, followed by the launch of the “TH3 G4M1NG FR1DG3” – an innovative appliance that simultaneously chilled PCs and beer bottles.

To further engage gaming enthusiasts, the Player 0.0 contest stripped away the dramatics and concentrated instead on skill and ability. Over the span of a year, players across 20 nations faced off on an exclusive mobile game, qualifying them for a series of local heats where gameplay intensified with the addition of racing simulators. A select group of top-scoring gamers was then invited to Madrid for the grand finale, where they had the opportunity to meet longstanding brand ambassador Max Verstappen.

Gamers from Japan, Brazil, and other regions united through their shared passion for sim racing, competing on a simulation of the Zandvoort track, notably known for hosting the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix. Following a vigorous competition, Slovenian sim racer Jernej Dovžan emerged victorious and was awarded the title by the four-time world champion. “It’s astounding to witness the fervor and commitment of these racers,” commented Verstappen. Emphasizing Heineken’s key message, When You Drive, Never Drink, he stated, “Player 0.0 continues to highlight the significance of skill, concentration, and making wise decisions—not only in racing but in life as well.”
