Kevin currently serves as the Performance Pathway and Distance Lead for Swimming. In the 2024 season, Hector Pardoe secured a bronze medal in the Men’s 10km marathon swimming event at February’s World Aquatics Championships. Additionally, three competitors—Pardoe, Toby Robinson, and Leah Crisp—qualified for the Olympic Games, marking the first instance since Beijing 2008 that Great Britain had this number of swimmers in the marathon swimming categories. Pardoe achieved sixth place in the Men’s 10km final, while Crisp and Robinson rounded out a remarkable trio of top-20 finishes for the British team.

From the perspective of Performance Pathway, Kevin has been pivotal in nurturing future talent for the past eight years, collaborating closely with athletes and coaches involved in Aquatics GB’s World Class Programme—many of whom have progressed to achieve significant senior international success.

Before entering his present role, he dedicated three years as the Head Coach at the Aquatics GB Performance Centre Loughborough (previously the British Swimming National Centre). Prior to that, he was a Senior Coach who led David Davies to a remarkable Men’s 10km bronze at the 2008 Olympic Games. Overall, he was part of the GB coaching staff for three Olympic Games—including the unforgettable moment for Davies in Beijing—and nine World Championships, while also serving as Head Coach for Team England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held on the Gold Coast.

Reflecting on his departure, Kevin remarked: “It saddens me greatly to part from such a fantastic organization, but the moment feels right for me to transition. My time with Aquatics GB has been remarkable, and I possess countless memories to treasure.

“My passion for the sport remains immense, and my enthusiasm for the swimmers is even greater. They have consistently inspired me to commit fully to every position I’ve held. I will miss everyone deeply, particularly all the extraordinary athletes. I will continue to support and advocate for Aquatics GB from outside, wishing everyone the success they rightly deserve.”

Commenting on Renshaw’s influence at Aquatics GB over the past two decades, Aquatics GB Performance Director Chris Spice stated: “Kevin has played a vital role in various capacities, with his recent contributions notably accelerating growth and development throughout our distance swimming program—a progression evident in this year’s Olympic qualifications.

“In addition to coaching senior athletes to major competition success over the years, his involvement in fostering and supervising the next wave of British swimmers has been crucial. Many of those athletes are currently thriving, clinching Olympic, World, and European titles, while others are beginning to emerge and are bound to enjoy promising careers in the years ahead—something for which Kevin ought to feel immensely proud.

“I am confident that everyone at Aquatics GB will join me in wishing him every success for the future.”
