BOSTON – Festive travel is in full effect with Christmas approaching rapidly, and passengers at Logan Airport in Boston faced delays due to snowy conditions.
Traffic was gridlocked at Logan as travelers set off on their festive journeys. Donna Ragucci just arrived in New England from Florida.
“I am thrilled, I get to visit my sister and we are going for a trolley ride today to the North End,” Ragucci expressed.
AAA reported that the snowy weather on Friday caused delays, spinouts, and interruptions to flights.
“Overall, we’ve observed a significant volume, which is what we anticipated, a record amount of individuals traveling this year,” stated AAA Northeast representative Mark Schieldrop. “There was a storm system that impacted a large portion of the country, with Chicago and Boston being two major hub airports, so anytime there are delays or cancellations in one area of the country, we frequently observe a bit of a domino effect.”
Kevin Walker mentioned this is his first and last time traveling during the holidays.
“Well, we arrived here yesterday morning, and our flight was canceled right when we arrived,” said Walker.
AAA projected that over 119 million individuals will travel from now until Jan. 2. While most flights at Logan are on schedule, there are several delays and cancellations causing holiday frustration.
“It hasn’t been great; my first flight was canceled, and now it seems I missed the cutoff for this flight, so they can’t check my bag, but it’s okay. I have a JetBlue flight tomorrow,” traveler Abbey Reynolds mentioned.
“It’s different because I’m driving this year, so we’re bringing the dog along, and I just hope the flight goes well for the two kiddos while we meet them on the other end,” said a man from Brookline traveling to North Carolina with his family.
Paul Pierre is heading back to Columbus, Ohio, and possesses his own approach to traveling.
“Don’t let the minor things unsettle you. Just navigate through the airport, do your best, be kind, and you’ll get through it,” Pierre advised.
“I’m a therapist, so I practice meditation and go to the gym,” Ragucci shared.
“It is what it is; I’m not going to get too worked up over it,” Reynolds remarked.
