WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Happy Christmas Eve to all!!

Local driving conditions on Christmas Eve should be straightforward, aside from a few slick areas south of Highway 10. However, fog and rain are expected to affect travel post-Christmas.

Tuesday will mark the coldest day for the remainder of the week. It will be a touch chillier than yesterday, but temperatures will still hover slightly above the average this afternoon. Highs are expected to reach the upper-20s and low-30s.

Conditions will clear up later this morning and into the afternoon.(WSAW)
Most slick areas around and south of Highway 10 will be eliminated by this afternoon.(WSAW)

Most of Minnesota is currently under a Dense Fog Advisory this morning, and the fog affecting travel today is expected to affect conditions later this week. There is still a possibility of fog on Wednesday morning, but the thickest and most widespread fog is predicted to develop Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Some fog may also be seen early on Friday, depending on when our next rain arrives.

Fog could make an appearance as early as Christmas morning, but late Christmas through early Thursday presents our greatest chances for fog locally.(WSAW)

As the week progresses, we will gradually warm up. Christmas Day is forecasted to reach highs in the mid-30s, and by the conclusion of the week, we could see temperatures in the upper-30s or even low-40s.

Our upcoming precipitation will likely come in the form of rain!! Yes, in late December, we are anticipating rain. It’s still too premature to ascertain exact amounts, but the most probable days for rain are Friday and Saturday. A lesser chance for rain exists on Thursday as well. Be sure to stay updated for information on rainfall amounts.
