As 2024 draws to a close, we pause to reflect on a year abundant with accomplishments, victories, and obstacles. From innovations in products to involvement in maritime industry functions, we remained dedicated to alleviating the challenges of crew change management, while emphasizing wellbeing and providing quantifiable savings for our clients. This progress would not have been achievable without the commitment of our team, the faith of our partners, and the dedication of our clients.

Themes of the Year

At the year’s commencement, we examined four primary trends in marine travel for 2024, addressing the expense of air travel, heightened sustainability expectations in both the aviation and maritime industries, the necessity of offering additional value as a travel management firm, and the obligation for maritime employers to contemplate wellbeing, even when crew members are off their vessels.

Upon reflection, we observe how sustainability consistently drives discussions, with projects such as ATPI Halo aiding our clients in measuring, offsetting, and minimizing their carbon emissions.

The cost of air travel will invariably remain one of the most critical elements of crew change; however, we encountered no revolutionary increases or decreases in 2024. Furthermore, in terms of value additions, we focused on enhancing our clients’ travel habits as a means to lower air travel expenses. We had something in the works for this effort…

New Hybrid Solutions

In April, we launched Crew Change Logistics, a comprehensive suite of initiatives that merges innovative solutions with expert assistance to optimize every facet of crew change travel management. Crew Change Logistics provides exceptional value through five distinctive solutions; CrewCarbon, CrewCare, CrewPoint, CrewView, and CrewD2D (Door2Deck), which furnish data and insights, along with decision-making and operational assistance during the pre-trip, on-trip, and post-trip phases of a crew member’s travel.

Moreover, in November, we introduced CrewHub, our self-service booking platform that enhances our hybrid service provision. Designed to facilitate complex crew and group travel, CrewHub enables organizers to book multiple travelers from various starting points in just a few clicks. By slashing booking times by up to 60%, it is poised to transform efficiency in the crew change travel arena.

Events and Awards

We extend our warmest congratulations to our colleagues at ATPI Greece for achieving the esteemed Great Place to Work Certification and receiving recognition at the Sales Excellence Awards 2024. These accomplishments highlight the significance of the Greek shipping sector and our dedication to providing exceptional service on a global scale.

ATPI Marine Travel participated in several significant industry events, reinforcing our status as a globally recognized travel partner in the maritime sector. Our sponsorship of CrewConnect Global in the Philippines showcased our leadership in promoting discussions on how investing in wellbeing can aid crew retention. From panels addressing mental health to case studies on cost efficiency, our contributions ignited meaningful conversations and highlighted our expertise. We also engaged in the Seatrade Cruise Global event in Miami, interacting with stakeholders from across the cruise sector to explore sustainable and efficient crew change methodologies.

Any Other Business!

The global IT disruption in July represented considerable challenges for the maritime industry, but our prompt response ensured uninterrupted service for our clients. Furthermore, our inaugural Sustainability Report reaffirmed our commitment to harmonizing operational excellence with ecological responsibility. As the year progressed, we engaged in discussions on gender diversity with Connie Roozen, a member of the Executive Committee of WISTA International.

As we prepare for the coming year, we remain devoted to innovating and collaborating to fulfill the changing demands of our clients. With the complete launch of CrewHub and sustained emphasis on sustainability, crew welfare, cost reductions, and efficiencies, we eagerly anticipate another busy year, coordinating nearly one million trips for maritime crew—the dedicated individuals who facilitate global trade!

Thus, to the seafarers, our workforce, partners, and clients: we express our gratitude for being part of our adventure. Here’s to a bright and successful 2025! And before you leave, be sure to check out ATPI’s travel management forecasts for 2025 here.
