Tampa, Fla. – Dec. 23, 2024 – Graduate guard Sammie Puisis of South Florida’s women’s basketball has been awarded the title of American Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Puisis topped all competitors with 23 points, shooting 3-3 from beyond the arc and 8-8 from the charity stripe, in South Florida’s unexpected 65-56 victory over No. 9/10 Duke at the Yuengling Center on Saturday afternoon. This triumph marked the Bulls’ first victory against a Top-10 team since defeating No. 7/5 Stanford, 57-54 in November 2021. Puisis becomes the third Bull in the program’s history to score over 20 points in a victory against an AP Top-10 opponent and the second Bull to achieve a 100% shooting record from 3-point distance in a win against an AP Top-10 adversary.

Earlier in the week, Puisis also contributed 12 points and a steal in USF’s convincing 71-36 win over Northwestern State.
