The Department of Public Health and Social Services is extending an invitation to the inhabitants of Dededo and the general public for a health outreach event taking place on Saturday.

Public Health will be offering complimentary services at its forthcoming Community Health Center outreach event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28 at the Northern Region Community Health Center.

Vaccination registration will conclude at 11 a.m. or until supplies are exhausted, according to a release from Public Health.

This outreach will grant participants free entry to a variety of DPHSS programs and services.

Routine vaccinations for children are available for those aged 6 months to 18 years who are enrolled in Medicaid, the Medically Indigent Program, or are lacking insurance.

The parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult must present a government-issued identification and shall provide the minor’s birth certificate and immunization records. Guardians must also show documentation of legal guardianship or power of attorney, while the authorized adult must carry a signed written authorization letter from the parent. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Additional complimentary services include, but are not confined to, health screenings for HIV and STDs, blood glucose tests, blood pressure assessments, and Body Mass Index evaluations.

Participants can also obtain health education on the following subjects:

• Tobacco and nicotine cessation

• Prevention of diabetes and hypertension

• Breast and cervical cancer in Guam

“This event is designed to bring Public Health medical services and education directly into the community and to our residents,” stated DPHSS Director Theresa C. Arriola in a statement. “Through the free early detection services and programs being made available at this outreach, we aim to empower our residents to take the proactive step in prioritizing their health.”
