Epic Halo Leak Unveils Hidden Dev Builds and Unreleased Treasures From 26 Years of Gaming History!

A significant leak of Halo assets has emerged online, featuring development tools, unreleased material, and dev builds.

The material is reported to originate from as early as 1998 at Bungie when the developers had recently launched Myth II: Soulblighter and were engaged in the creation of Oni and Halo: Combat Evolved.

Initially highlighted by VISCERAL, the leak comprises approximately 90GB of data and is believed to have surfaced due to 343 Industries employing a team of modders to attempt to restore cut assets and data from the previous games. This endeavor was termed the Digsite project, with some individuals familiar with the undertaking, including a modder involved in the project, affirming the authenticity of the leak.

As is the case with all leaks of this kind, downloading them is done at your own peril, and the files can be located across various social media channels.

Regarding the Halo franchise in the present day, 343 Industries rebranded itself to Halo Studios in 2024 and is still in the process of creating the forthcoming Halo titles. In conjunction with the announcement of its studio’s name change, the development team also revealed that their games would migrate to Unreal Engine 5.

“If you analyze Halo deeply, there have been two very distinct eras. Era 1 – Bungie. Era 2 – 343 Industries,” said studio head Pierre Hintze. “Currently, I believe we have an audience eager for more. Therefore, we’re not merely going to focus on enhancing development efficiency, but will transform how we produce Halo games. Hence, we embark on a new chapter today.”
