BETHLEHEM, Pa. – As the first semester concludes, the baseball season is approaching quickly. Peter E. Bennett ’63 head coach Sean Leary, now embarking on his 30th season at the forefront of the Lehigh baseball program, declared the team’s 2025 schedule on Friday afternoon.
The Mountain Hawks are set to compete in 24 matches at J. David Walker Field at Legacy Park while participating as the visiting team in 21 fixtures this season. Additionally, Lehigh will engage in four neutral site games overall.
The 2025 season commences on February 14-16 in Norman, Oklahoma, featuring a three-match series against the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners are entering the new season following a 2024 campaign where they hosted a regional and topped the Big 12 regular season standings.
“The 2025 itinerary showcases some exceptionally formidable opponents,” stated Leary. “Oklahoma’s pitching rotation is as skilled as any nationwide and the Sooners are well-positioned for a significant run in the NCAA tournament next June.”
Next, the Mountain Hawks will travel to Virginia for a two-game series against the Richmond Spiders on February 21-22. Lehigh will also tackle Fairfield in a neutral site contest on the 22nd to round off the weekend.
Following that, Lehigh will face LIU in a three-game series at a neutral location in Virginia on March 1-2, followed by another three-match series on the road against UMBC on March 7-9. The Mountain Hawks will host their first home matches at J. David Walker Field the subsequent week, welcoming non-league adversaries Saint Joseph’s and Coppin State on March 11 and 12 respectively.
The team’s home-opening weekend initiates an extensive home stand for the Mountain Hawks through March. Albany will head to Bethlehem on March 14-16 for a three-match series, succeeded by a midweek battle with in-state rival Penn on March 18.
“A number of other weekends will involve mid-majors projected to lead their respective conferences,” remarked Leary. “I am confident that the first five weekends will equip us for the Patriot League segment of the schedule.”
Patriot League action will commence the following weekend, with Holy Cross and Army set to engage in doubleheaders in Bethlehem on March 22 and March 23. Lehigh will then venture east to Rider University for the opening round of the annual Liberty Bell Classic on March 25.
The first chapter of The Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, against Lafayette College will unfold on the weekend of March 28 in Bethlehem. The Mountain Hawks will compete against the Leopards once on Friday, a pair of times on Saturday, and once again on Sunday.
Continuing with the Patriot League campaign, the Mountain Hawks will play on the road the following weekend, visiting Bucknell for a doubleheader on April 5 and Navy for another doubleheader on April 6. Lehigh will return home for a noteworthy midweek matchup against Muhlenberg on April 9, which will occur at the historic Limeport Stadium.
The Mountain Hawks will wrap up their season series on the road with a three-match series against Army on April 12-13. The series against Lafayette will conclude in a midweek confrontation on April 18 in Easton.
On April 19-20, Lehigh will host Bucknell at J. David Walker Field for three matches to complete the season series against the Bison. Following that, the Mountain Hawks will welcome Saint Peter’s on April 23, then engage in a three-game weekend series at home against Navy on April 26-27.
Lehigh’s final non-league contests of the regular season will be held against Coppin State at home on April 29, and away at Saint Peter’s on April 30. The regular season will conclude for the Mountain Hawks on the road with a three-game series against Holy Cross on May 3-4.
The Patriot League Championship semifinals are set to commence on May 10, featuring two three-game series between the top four teams in the league. The championship series will take place the following weekend.
“The Patriot League will be as competitive as any time I can recall, so we are eager to improve daily as we prepare for a strong showing this spring,” Leary expressed.
