A 17-year-old worker at Frankie’s Fun Park lost his life on Friday following a collision between a go-kart and a forklift.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office verified that Kamel Seveion Sewell of Simpsonville passed away around 11:42 a.m. when the go-kart he was operating struck an industrial-sized forklift, which was also being driven by an employee of the park.

Deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office initially attended to a 911 call that reported the incident at the recreational and amusement venue located at 45 Park Woodruff Drive.

The sheriff’s department and the coroner’s office are still examining the events surrounding the accident.

Shortly after the occurrence, the doors of Frankie’s Fun Park were secured and closed.

“Currently, Frankie’s is providing details and support to both law enforcement and OSHA,” stated Jamie Waddell, the general manager of Frankie’s Fun Park. “As soon as the circumstances and causes of the incident are ascertained, further information will be communicated accordingly. It is with a heavy heart that we disclose this news. Please keep Seveion and his family in your thoughts.”

Waddell mentioned that Sewell had been employed at the park for over a year.

Frankie’s Fun Park is a recreational space that features mini golf, go-kart racing, batting cages, laser tag, and additional attractions. In South Carolina, there are venues located in Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville.
