The OnePlus Open 2 is expected to launch early next year as the successor to the OnePlus Open from 2023. While enthusiasts await an official confirmation, recent leaks have surfaced, disclosing insights about its design and features. The leaked visuals display a sleeker silhouette and a larger camera assembly. The smartphone is also speculated to incorporate a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and might include an IPX8 water resistance rating.

Smartprix, in partnership with informants Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) and Yawn (@chunvn8888), revealed what could potentially be the initial images of the OnePlus Open 2. The visuals indicate minor design modifications, including a prominent circular rear camera module that recalls the original OnePlus Open. Nonetheless, the internal camera configuration seems altered, featuring three sensors arranged in the upper semicircle. The Hasselblad logo is situated at the bottom of the module, while the LED flash is located in the top-left corner of the rear panel.

The leaked visuals showcase the OnePlus Open 2 in an elegant black hue with rounded rear edges. With a thickness of less than 10mm, it could be among the thinnest foldable smartphones on the market. It is also rumored to possess an IPX8 rating, which provides better water protection compared to the OnePlus Open’s IPX4 rating.

OnePlus Open 2: Anticipated Specifications

The OnePlus Open 2 is believed to feature an 8-inch LTPO primary display with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, it may come equipped with a 6.4-inch AMOLED cover screen. Powering the device could be the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, combined with up to 16GB of RAM and as much as 1TB of internal storage.

For imaging, the foldable is rumored to include a triple rear camera arrangement consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. On the front, it might accommodate dual selfie cameras—32 megapixels and 20 megapixels.

The device is projected to include a 5,900mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging.

In the meantime, the Oppo Find N5 is expected to be unveiled in China by the end of January 2025, with the OnePlus Open 2 likely acting as its international counterpart.
