Halide’s Exciting Transformation: Unveiling the Feature Everyone’s Been Craving!

The acclaimed smartphone photography application Halide may undergo a significant update next year. The development team at Lux Camera has presented a preview of the features they hope to implement in Halide Mark III, which includes various enhancements from color modifications to a revamped user interface. Leading the list is one-tap color grading, a capability that the developers assert has been the top request from users.

The developers – a duo – mentioned that a 2025 launch for Halide III seemed achievable. Nonetheless, after acknowledging unforeseen factors and how recent iOS updates influence the development, the team refrained from committing to a definite release date.

One-tap color grading features prominently at the forefront of anticipated functionalities. This feature will transition from Kino, the developer’s video application that was honored as Apple’s App of the Year for 2024. The developers conveyed their desire for Mark III to be accompanied by one-tap film aesthetics. However, the company emphasizes their aim to allow users to incorporate other looks created by other Halide users.

The second significant feature the developers forecast is “a sophisticated and nuanced HDR appearance.” Earlier this year, the company introduced a Process Zero format, which is a custom RAW file that bypasses the iPhone’s artificial intelligence, aiming for a more authentic film-like color palette. However, Process Zero does not currently support HDR.

The company aspires to integrate HDR into Process Zero, mentioning that they are not hurrying the development as they seek an appearance that’s not as “overwhelming” as some HDR images can be. The addition of Adaptive HDR support in iOS 18 will also be beneficial, the company states.

Lastly, Lux Camera indicates that Halide Mark III will incorporate a revamped user interface. The developers describe this enhancement as “beautiful in both aesthetic and utility” but have not yet unveiled what the new design may resemble.

Current patrons and users who made a one-off payment for Mark II will gain access to Mark III. Subscribers will receive early entry to Mark III as the developers finalize the testing of the update.
