PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Generally, the majority of travelers on Friday faced minimal to no complications. Yet, this marks the final busy travel phase as individuals head back home for the new year.

Philadelphia International Airport is wrapping up 2024 with yet another record-setting travel period.

Over 93,000 passengers are anticipated to transit through PHL on just Friday.

“Everything went smoothly; traffic was manageable. There were no delays getting on and off.. keep it up, Philadelphia,” exclaimed Consuella Hopkins joyfully upon her arrival to Philadelphia from Indiana.

Travelers arrived at the airport early, expecting lengthy queues, but fortunately, that was not the situation, resulting in a seamless journey to grandma’s residence.

“It was truly unexpected. In fact, we dropped off other passengers, and there were no lines, which is quite astonishing,” remarked Lisa McDonald from Switzerland.

Fortunately, those using the train experienced only minor delays.

“The train is delayed slightly, so just hanging in there but can’t complain otherwise,” shared Lucas Tejwani.

Regarding road conditions, specialists indicated that the least congested time to drive was before 2 p.m. on Friday.

“Roads are clear, traffic isn’t too heavy. We just encountered a few traffic snags while in Washington,” noted Ken Booth from Elkins Park.

Given that many anticipate travel difficulties during this season, it was refreshing for those who did not face such issues.

“We are always early when heading to the airport, but especially this time of the year we prepare for substantial traffic,” explained McDonald.

Sunday is projected to be the next busiest day at the airport.
