Ben and Beth Foster both have a penchant for a mix of rustic and modern aesthetics; thus, when they set out to construct their own residence, they aimed for a “modern mountain style” that harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding nature.

“The homeowners were truly fond of the modern mountain design and aimed to incorporate that into their new abode,” remarks Maureen Lindstrom of ML Designs, who collaborated with the Fosters on their roughly 6,300 square-foot dwelling. “The wife’s taste leans towards the modern side more than the husband’s, so we worked to discover the ideal combination to unite both styles for a design they would cherish.” And they indeed do.

“We believed the darker shades were reminiscent of other modern mountain style homes we admired and complemented the surrounding scenery well,” Ben shares.

“[The homeowners] possess one of the most stunning plots that flows into the forest,” Lindstrom notes. “The residence is nestled among the trees, so we aimed to incorporate nature within.”
Lindstrom achieved the “moody ambiance” by applying a dark green hue on the cabinets that reflects the woods outside. For the backsplash in the bar area, she utilized a deep green as well. Photography by Laura Kilgore.
The powder room’s striking feature is a backlit half-moon mirror that the homeowners discovered and instantly adored, according to Lindstrom, who designed the bathroom centered around this piece.
