MCO Buzz: The Thrilling Surge of Travelers this Peak Weekend!

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando International Airport encountered its busiest day of the year on Saturday, anticipating over 192,000 passengers to be traveling in and out.

Although the airport is striving to ensure a seamless experience, storms throughout the southeast created challenges.

MCO alone recorded over 500 delays and at least seven cancellations, as reported by flight tracking website FlightAware.

This affected travelers like Krisann and Dave Foss.

“There is a two-hour delay arriving here, thus it will be a two-hour delay for our departure,” they mentioned.

The pair are returning to Seattle after enjoying a Disney Cruise, and surprisingly, they remained in good spirits despite the delay.

“We were kind of expecting this since we heard it would be a busy travel day and are just trying to make the best of it. It’s not the end of the world,” they stated.

The couple chose to spend their waiting time in the atrium reading books and relishing each other’s company.

They also provided some practical advice for those who still plan to travel as the new year approaches.

“I think the key is to remain flexible and be ready to dedicate time to reading or whatever you enjoy. Or perhaps choose a different day than Dec. 28,” they advised.

On Sunday, approximately 186,000 travelers are anticipated to be present at the airport.
