JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) — A masquerade ball took place in Jonesboro on Saturday, aimed at providing enjoyment for individuals in recovery.

On December 28, NEA Divine Intervention organized its second Sobriety Ball.

This year’s theme was masquerade, and numerous attendees donned masks while enjoying themselves.

Peer Support Specialist Nicole Hanners mentioned that NEA Divine Intervention dedicated the entire year to organizing the ball.

“It’s all about having fun during recovery,” she stated. “You can enjoy yourself while sober. We’re wrapping up the year correctly and ushering in the new year with enthusiasm.”

NEA Divine Intervention operates as a non-profit entity that assists individuals in recovering from addiction.

Hanners, who has undergone recovery herself, has observed many of her peers since they began their journey to sobriety.

“You get to witness them at their lowest moments, and it nearly brings tears to my eyes,” she reflected. “I can recall being in that circumstance. When you encounter someone who appears hopeless, devoid of light in their eyes, and then you accompany them on their recovery journey, seeing them arrive at an event like this, looking fabulous, is simply an incredible experience.”

The event featured a 360-photo booth, food, music, games, and a silent auction.

Funds raised will support the organization, aiding individuals with treatment alternatives, housing, and various forms of assistance.

Hanners stated that anyone is welcome to volunteer and contribute donations. NEA Divine Intervention is situated at 2408 Phillips Drive.
