Instagram is crafting a novel tool that will enable you to alter your content feed and refresh your algorithm. The Instagram ‘Fresh Start’ reset tool will be your ally if you’re weary of the recommendations on the Explore page, the Reels tab no longer aligns with your preferences, or if your main feed displays the same repetitive posts. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, shared a video exploring the recent update. Discussing the significant change, he noted that resetting your algorithm could make the app less captivating initially, “because we’re going to assume we know nothing about your preferences, and it will take some time to reacquaint ourselves with them.” He emphasized that this tool is aimed at users who are not finding joy in their Instagram experience and offers them a fresh beginning.

The new Instagram feature will refresh your algorithm: What is the process?

If you’ve chosen to revamp your Instagram feed, you can still refine your recommendations gradually based on your interactions with content. Instagram states the new feature is being introduced globally “soon”. Prior to the feature’s formal launch, the photo-sharing platform is permitting users to experiment with it. Here’s how to proceed:

• Once the feature is accessible, navigate to your ‘Settings’ page to discover a new option labeled ‘Content Preferences’ or ‘Suggested Content’.
• Choose ‘Reset Content Suggestions’.
• Examine the accounts you follow and your advertisement topics, then opt for ‘Reset suggested content’.

The new Instagram feature adds to the social media behemoth’s already available tools for personalizing content recommendations. Instagram currently allows you to categorize content as ‘Interested’ or ‘Not interested’ by tapping the three dots on the post. Additionally, users can filter out content containing specific phrases/words using the ‘Hidden Words’ feature.
