Dive Into Excellence: Meet the 2024 Boys All-Area Swimming Stars!

At the conclusion of every season, The News-Press recognizes All-Area teams celebrating the top contestants in each sport. Coaches from nearby schools are dispatched nomination forms and are requested to endorse and evaluate their athletes along with competitors from other teams. The amalgamation of that information with The News-Press’ findings resulted in the choice of the All-Area teams.

FIRST TEAM

Ryland Chappell

School: Fort Myers

Year: Junior

Highlights: Chappell clinched district and regional championships in the 500 free and acquired a state medal in this discipline at the Class 3A state competition. In the 200 free, he placed first at districts, second at regionals, and tenth at state.

Josef Florek

School: Estero

Year: Sophomore

Highlights: Florek secured his first state medal by finishing fifth in the 500 free at the Class 2A state event. He also finished 14th in the 100 back. He was the regional runner-up in both events and triumphed in the district title for the 100 back.

Nicholas Kirby

School: Estero

Year: Sophomore

Highlights: Kirby claimed two district titles in the 200 free and 100 fly, qualifying for the Class 2A state event in both disciplines. He received a state medal by finishing seventh in the 200 free.

Giovanni Medina

School: Estero

Year: Senior

Highlights: Medina secured the district championship in the 500 free. He qualified for states in both the 500 free and 200 free events, finishing eighth and 15th, respectively.

Zach Poskon

School: Oasis

Year: Junior

Highlights: Poskon qualified for the Class 1A meet in the 200 IM. He secured the district title in that event and placed fourth at regionals.

Brayden Saari

School: ECS

Year: Junior

Highlights: Saari was a two-time district champion in the 50 free and 100 free races. He qualified for the Class 1A meet in both events, finishing 10th and 17th, respectively.

Parker Seluk

School: Estero

Year: Junior

Highlights: Seluk clinched a district championship in the 200 IM and secured third place in the 500 free. He qualified for the Class 2A competition in both events, achieving his top result with an 11th-place spot in the 500 free.

Hayden Tedhams

School: Cape Coral

Year: Junior

Highlights: At the Class 3A state competition, Tedhams placed 17th in the 200 free and 13th in the 500 free. He was a close second in both events at districts.

Jacob Terry

School: North Fort Myers

Year: Senior

Highlights: Terry captured two district titles in the 50 free and 100 free. He secured second place in both events at the regionals and finished 10th in the 50 free at the Class 3A state competition.

School: Cape Coral

Highlights: Kimble guided the Cape Coral boys to clinch the CCAC title and achieve second place at districts. The team qualified two relay squads for the Class 3A state competition.
