LG aims to impress audiences at CES 2025 with what it asserts to be the “first of its kind bendable 5K2K gaming monitor.” This new unit is named the 45GX990A and is set to be among various UltraGear GX9 series monitors featured at its showcase. A standout attribute of this specific 45-inch display is its OLED panel with a resolution of 5,120 x 2,160 pixels, boasting a 21:9 aspect ratio, which can transition from entirely flat to a curved, immersive 900R.
As a precursor to the launch ahead of CES, we currently do not have the full specification list for the LG Ultragear GX9 45GX990A. Nonetheless, LG has shared sufficient details in its press release to excite any technology enthusiast.
Nowadays, OLED panels are generally held in high esteem by PC users, and this one carries several intriguing advancements. LG claims it utilizes its “state-of-the-art WOLED technology” here, offering high brightness, deep blacks, vibrant colors, minimal blue light emissions, and reduced eye strain. In addition, the 45GX990A incorporates LG’s Anti-Glare & Low Reflection (AGLR) coating, aiming to eliminate bothersome and unwanted reflections and glare from the screen.
The icing on the cake is that LG’s exceptionally high 5K2K resolution (5,120 x 2,160 pixels, 125ppi) display is also adaptable, and the design capitalizes on this feature. LG’s public relations state that this 45-inch model “can seamlessly shift from completely flat to a 900R curvature in mere seconds,” implying a degree of mechanization. It should be noted that 900R represents a relatively tight curvature based on an arc segment originating from a 900mm radius.
True to modern OLED standards, the 45GX990A exhibits an impressively rapid response time of just 0.03ms (GtG). Currently, we lack details on refresh rates, but LG confirms that the new Ultragear GX9 is certified for both Nvidia G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.
Leveraging the versatility of its “4-side Virtually Borderless design,” LG offers an array of presets that combine resolution, refresh rate, and additional settings. Options are available for FPS, RPG, MOBA, racing simulations, among other categories.
