Neal Maupay Sparks Fury Among Everton Fans with Controversial Post After Forest Loss

Marseille’s loaned attacker Neal Maupay has ignited fury among Everton supporters by mocking his parent club in a social media update. Maupay previously took a jab at Everton when he went out on loan to the French team during the summer and his recent insult has further infuriated the followers of the Premier League club.

The 28-year-old shared on X after Sean Dyche’s team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park on Sunday: “Whenever I’m having a rough day I just check the Everton score and grin.”

The former boxer Tony Bellew was one of the Toffees’ fans who reacted to Maupay, with the ex-world cruiserweight champion responding on X simply with: “Prick!”

Maupay experienced a challenging period at Everton, netting only one league goal across 29 matches after being acquired by the Merseyside team for an undisclosed sum in 2022.

He left for a season-long loan to his previous club Brentford for the 2023-24 season and departed Goodison for a second time in August when Marseille signed him on loan with an obligation to finalize the deal.

After exiting Everton in the summer, Maupay disturbed their fans with a social media update showcasing a scene from the film The Shawshank Redemption, which illustrates the protagonist’s prolonged struggle for liberation.
