New Year’s Eve offers enjoyable choices not just for adults.

The Brandywine Zoo will conduct its yearly Zoo Year’s Eve celebration during the daytime, featuring two ball drops – one at 11 am and another at 1 pm. You can arrive as early as 10 am for the morning ball drop and at noon for the afternoon ball drop.

Lauren Barczak, the conservation and education curator at the Brandywine Zoo, mentions they introduced a second ball drop due to the event’s increasing popularity.

“It has always been so popular that it’s challenging to accommodate everyone, which is a fantastic issue to have,” stated Barczak. “We’re thrilled to be able to host more than one ball drop this year. This allows us to involve more attendees. It’s a lot of fun when children can come on stage and assist us with our countdowns, making it a really enjoyable and unique way to involve kids in celebrating the new year.”

Tickets for the outdoor celebration can be purchased online through the zoo’s official site. It is complimentary for members and for children aged 2 and under, while non-members are charged $5. Admission to the zoo is free for all after 2 pm.

Barczak elaborates on the event.

“A family-oriented celebration for New Year’s. We conduct a large countdown with sparkling cider. There will be two distinct time slots available so that if you can’t make it in the morning for our initial ball drop, you’re invited to join us for the latter,” explained Barczak.

That’s not the sole event taking place that afternoon. The Delaware Children’s Museum is set to have its New Year’s Eve festivities for children, with confetti countdowns occurring at 11 am, noon, and 1 pm. Regular admission fees apply.

The Delaware Museum of Nature and Science will also host its STOMPing into the New Year event from 10 am until noon.

This event caters to all ages and includes live bird presentations from Animal Behavior & Conservation Connections, along with celebratory activities featuring a science-themed ball drop.

Ticket prices range from $3 to $17, and pre-registration is encouraged. Walk-ins are accepted based on available space. Registration can be completed on their website.
