Here’s what has been officially confirmed regarding Nintendo’s forthcoming console.

It is indeed a reality.

Your existing Switch titles will be compatible with it.

And that sums it up.

There hasn’t been an official name unveiled yet, though fans have dubbed it the Nintendo Switch 2.

Even with unverified leaks and speculations, the device’s features remain undisclosed, and the company has promised some form of formal announcement by the close of March.

However, there’s a sentiment that Nintendo will likely avoid altering the successful approach of the original Switch, which has achieved sales of 146 million units since its release in 2017.

“The logical expectation is for just a larger, enhanced Switch,” remarks James.

Anticipate a design that resembles the original but with enhanced processing power inside.

“That might seem overly simplistic,” he adds.

“Yet given how successful it has been, it would be unwise not to build upon the groundwork they have established.”

James insists that assurance of backward compatibility — the capacity to play games initially designed for the first Switch — strongly implies that the new device will share many similarities with its predecessor.

He mentions there is a concern that, as has been seen with previous Nintendo devices, consumers may not recognize that the new console differs from what they already own.

Nonetheless, James isn’t convinced it will meet the same outcome.

“That was quite a while ago,” he states. “I believe they have gained significant insights since then.”
