From Berks History Center

The Berks History Center is excited to introduce its latest exhibit, “Sights Unseen,” which will commence with a public gathering on Friday, Jan. 24, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This extraordinary exhibition is a partnership with the Vision Resource Center of Berks County and is set to provide attendees with an uplifting experience.

The Background of “Sights Unseen”

In the mid-1970s, an extraordinary initiative was launched by W. Marc Bernsau, who worked alongside four visually impaired residents of Berks County on a distinctive photography project. Each individual traversed the city of Reading with a camera, capturing visuals influenced by their senses of sound and smell. The exhibit features these images, granting insight into the creative viewpoints of the photographers and their encounters. Fast-forward to the present, the Vision Resource Center of Berks County has similarly selected four clients to revisit the project, echoing Bernsau’s method from the 1970s. The works of these four photographers will also be displayed, providing a fascinating “then and now” viewpoint.

Join Us For a Remarkable Evening

We cordially invite you to partake in an evening that guarantees to broaden your perspectives and enhance your appreciation for the diverse talents within our community. Entry to the opening reception is available through donations, which will include light refreshments and the opportunity to explore the three floors of exhibits at the Berks History Center Museum. The collected funds will benefit the efforts of both the Berks History Center and the Vision Resource Center of Berks County.
