DENTON — The UNT men’s basketball squad kicks off American Athletic Conference competition on Tuesday afternoon with a home match versus the defending league tournament victors UAB at the Super Pit.

Game start is set for 3 p.m. CT, and it will be streamed on the Mean Green Sports Network, provided by Learfield, as well as on ESPNU.

North Texas (9-3) comes into Tuesday having claimed victory in four consecutive conference openers since 2020 in Conference USA. UNT commenced last season with four straight conference triumphs before being hindered by various injuries. The Mean Green head into this season’s conference debut on a three-game winning streak and boast a 7-0 home record.

UAB (7-6), who triumphed in the 2024 AAC Tournament and secured an automatic spot in the NCAA Tournament, welcomes back Yaxel Lendeborg, the tournament’s MVP, who is also the current AAC Defensive Player of the Year and Preseason Player of the Year. He approaches Tuesday’s game averaging 16.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest, all of which lead his team. His rebounding average is the highest among AAC players.

After Tuesday’s game, the Mean Green will head to Memphis to take on the Tigers (10-3) on Jan. 5. Memphis has recorded three top-25 victories so far this season, including a win against the consecutive national champion UConn.
