BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Boston University women’s basketball team captured both Patriot League weekly honors for the week of Dec. 30, with senior Alex Giannaros and freshman Channing Warren recognized as Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Giannaros is the inaugural Terrier this season to receive the Patriot League Player of the Week accolade. This marks Giannaros’ first career Player of the Week award, making it the 15th for a Terrier since their entry into the conference prior to the 2013-14 season. Giannaros’ previous weekly award was received as a freshman on Jan. 3, 2022.

Warren also obtains her first career weekly award from the Patriot League. She becomes the second Terrier to achieve this recognition, joining her classmate Allison Schwertner, who has claimed the honor three times. BU maintains the lead in the Patriot League for Rookie of the Week awards.

In BU’s victory over Yale on Dec. 29, where they triumphed 77-56, Giannaros scored a team-high 23 points. She successfully made her first seven attempts and was flawless from three-point territory, going 4-for-4. With her performance, she ascended to fifth place in the program’s history for career three-pointers and 18th in scoring.

Throughout the season, Giannaros is averaging 14.7 points per game, placing her fourth in the Patriot League. She has crossed the 20-point mark four times this season while maintaining a shooting percentage exceeding 41 percent from the field.

Warren achieved several personal records in the matchup against the Bulldogs, scoring 15 points in just 15 minutes on seven field goals, along with six rebounds and two steals. Prior to this game, Warren had only tallied five points with two successful shots from the field.

BU will commence Patriot League play on Thursday (Jan. 2), welcoming Lafayette to Case Gym. The game is scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m.
