PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia’s Kitty Henderson and Mia Broom were recognized as Ivy League Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, according to the announcement from the league office on Monday. Henderson shared the Player of the Week title with Yale’s Mackenzie Egger, while Broom received her first Rookie of the Week accolade.

Henderson and Broom played pivotal roles in securing the Lions a 73-53 win against Towson in the only match of the week. A senior co-captain hailing from Australia, Henderson recorded 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and a steal during the victory, marking her second double-double of the season and the seventh of her career. On the other hand, Broom contributed with eight points, three rebounds, one assist, and a game-high four steals. The rookie from Seattle shot 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, sinking back-to-back three-pointers early in the fourth quarter to stretch the lead.

For Henderson, the Player of the Week recognition is her third this season (Nov. 11, Dec. 2), the highest count among Ivy League players thus far. The point guard is currently leading the league in assists (66) and assists per game (5.1), ranking in the top 50 in the NCAA for both. She also stands fifth in the Ivies in scoring (15.6) and sixth in steals (1.9), alongside being in the top 10 for rebounding (6.1) and field goal percentage (.483).

When considering career statistics, Henderson is eighth at Columbia in points (1,140), fourth in assists (410), eighth in steals (141), and 13th in rebounds (590). Her next game will mark the 100th start of her career, making her one of only five individuals in program history to achieve this milestone.

Columbia (9-4) will commence the Ivy League season this Saturday at Penn (8-3). The opening tip-off at The Palestra is scheduled for 2 p.m.
