The iPhone SE (3rd generation) remains the last existing iPhone featuring Apple’s earlier design aesthetic: substantial bezels and a home button. It was modeled after the iPhone 8’s frame and stands as the tiniest iPhone currently sold by Apple. However, hints suggest that this may change shortly when Apple unveils the next iteration of iPhone SE in 2025.

At present, the smallest iPhone measures 4.7 inches; thus, the SE is anticipated to undergo a significant design transformation. The iPhone SE (4th generation) will probably adopt a similar aesthetic to Apple’s other premium iPhone models: an all-display format featuring Face ID instead of Touch ID. Speculations also suggest that the display size may increase to 6.1 inches, rendering it far larger than the existing ‌iPhone SE‌.

Reports indicate that the forthcoming iPhone SE will take design cues from the iPhone 14’s chassis, albeit with some modifications. Rather than the dual rear cameras present on the iPhone 14, only a single rear lens is anticipated for the iPhone SE 4. However, unlike the 12MP main camera of the iPhone 14, this may feature a larger megapixel sensor. 

Additionally, it will not utilize a lightning port as seen in the iPhone 14 since Apple will replace it with a USB-C port to comply with EU regulations and ensure consistency across its products. Speculations also suggest that Apple might keep the mute switch on the iPhone SE 4, while excluding the Action Button introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro models and now standard in the iPhone 16 lineup.

An earlier report from the Taiwanese outlet DigiTimes states that Apple has already begun procuring OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4 from China.

It might also offer comparable battery size and longevity as the iPhone 14.

Apple has consistently kept its iPhone SE range quite economical, pricing it below the premium lineup of devices. This trend is likely to continue with the iPhone SE 4, despite enhancements in hardware and the addition of premium features. Speculations imply that Apple could retail the upcoming iPhone SE 4 at $429 or approximately Rs 40,000, making it one of the most budget-friendly Apple devices featuring Apple Intelligence. 

It is anticipated that Apple will announce the iPhone SE in early 2025.
