A segment of development for two of Hideo Kojima’s forthcoming titles has experienced delays. In a social media update, Kojima announced that both OD and Physint have been affected by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Within his message, Kojima provided fans with insights into the status of his three main initiatives — Death Stranding 2, OD, and Physint. Concerning Death Stranding 2, he indicated that the team “began to play and develop the game” throughout the summer after focusing on music creation, Japanese voice recording, and additional tasks. However, there have been challenges for his other two projects.
Initially, regarding OD, Kojima noted that game development persisted along with the scanning of actors and environments. Nevertheless, in the latter half of the year, scanning and filming were put on hold due to the strike. For Physint, the casting process was halted as a result of the strike.
Kojima mentioned that the hold is expected to continue next year, provided a resolution is achieved, of course. The current SAG-AFTRA strike commenced in July following 18 months of discussions concerning AI safeguards for video game performers. As of this publication, there is no information available regarding the current status of the negotiations.
