Michigan State and Wisconsin Shine Bright: Celebrating Their Star-Studded Achievements

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has revealed its Three Stars of the Week for hockey matches conducted from Dec. 28-30.

First Star
Luca Di Pasquo, Michigan State
So. – G – Livonia, Mich. — Penticton (BCHL)

• Di Pasquo (pronounced dee-PASS-kwoh) guarded the goal for No. 1/1 Michigan State, leading them to their first Great Lakes Invitational championship since 2009
• Saved 45 out of 46 shots (.978 save percentage), extending his shutout streak to 165:37 before conceding a single goal on the power play
• Awarded the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after registering 29 saves in a 3-1 victory over No. 4/4 Western Michigan in the final on Dec. 30 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
• The sophomore goaltender earns his first Big Ten Star award
• Last Michigan State First Star: Isaac Howard (Dec. 17, 2024)

Second Star
Quinn Finley, Wisconsin
So. – F – Suamico, Wis. – Chicago (USHL)

• Accumulated three goals and an assist to aid Wisconsin in maintaining its title at the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off held Dec. 28-29 in Milwaukee, Wis.
• Scored twice, including the game-winner, in an 8-0 triumph over Ferris State and netted his NCAA-leading 15^th goal of the season in a 4-3 win over UConn during the championship match
• Received the tournament’s Most Outstanding Forward Award
• The third-round draftee of the New York Islanders secures his second Star Award of the season and his career
• Last Wisconsin Star recipient: Tommy Scarfone (Third Star, Dec. 17, 2024)

Third Star
Cody Laskosky, Wisconsin
Gr. – F – Camrose, Alberta — RIT (NCAA)

• Secured four points (three goals, one assist) as Wisconsin claimed its third Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off title in the past four years
• Netted two goals within a minute and 16 seconds and contributed an assist in the victory over Ferris State on Dec. 28
• Credited with the game-winning goal with 1:24 remaining in regulation after being taken down while trying to score on an empty net during a 4-3 win against UConn in the title match on Sunday
• The RIT transfer achieves his first Big Ten Weekly accolade
