MADISON, Wis. — Following a brief hiatus of just over a month, the Wisconsin men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to resume competition this weekend. The Badgers will compete against UC San Diego, UCLA, and UNLV on Saturday in La Jolla, California.

Before the Badgers take the plunge, here are five facts to consider:

1. LAST TIME COMPETED: The Badgers wrapped up the fall season when the swimmers participated in the Texas Invite and the divers took part in the Georgia Invite at the end of November. The men’s team secured 17 NCAA “B” qualifying times, while the women’s team achieved four “A” qualifying times and shattered the school record in the 200 Medley Relay.

2. HOLDING FIRM: According to the latest CSCAA rankings from December, the Badgers experienced slight adjustments following a month of inactivity. The women’s team is positioned at No. 12, having dropped two places from No. 10. Meanwhile, the men’s team is ranked No. 18, falling four spots from No. 14. The women maintain a record of 2-0, while the men possess a 2-1 record.

3. BADGERS AROUND THE GLOBE: During the break, freshman diver Jaden Eikermann and fifth-year athlete Phoebe Bacon made significant impacts on the international scene. The German native clinched a German National Championship title and set a new UW record in the 10m platform. Simultaneously, Bacon earned two gold medals for Team USA at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships held in Budapest—one in the 4×200 Free Relay and another in the 4×100 Free Relay. Furthermore, Bacon placed fourth and achieved a personal best in the 200 backstroke.

4. LOOKING FORWARD: Following the competition in California, the Badgers are set to return to Madison for Senior Day on January 18 against Northwestern. The subsequent week, Wisconsin is scheduled to travel to South Bend, Indiana, for the Tim Welsh Classic. The regular season will conclude at home during the Badger Invitational on February 7-8.

5. STAY UPDATED: Results from the meet will be available on the MeetMobile App. Stay connected with us on Instagram and Twitter for all the latest updates throughout the weekend @BadgerSwimDive.
