Wemade: South Korea’s Gaming Powerhouse Sets Sights on Revolutionizing Blockchain Social Connections

The South Korean gaming developer Wemade aims to connect gaming and blockchain by launching new decentralized communities in 2025.

Wemade, a large player in the South Korean gaming industry, seems to have ambitious plans for 2025, concentrating on novel blockchain services and social communities. In a recent interview with Maeil Business Newspaper, the company’s CEO, Park Kwan-ho, described 2025 as a potential “turning point” for the organization, aspiring to integrate gaming and blockchain in ways that present “new opportunities” within the global arena.

Park reiterated his admiration for blockchain technology, emphasizing that its “transparency and interoperability of data” render it ideal for fostering trust in digital services. “Our objective is to establish new social communities in sectors where trust is essential by leveraging the interoperability of data,” he elaborated.

Wemade has already introduced platforms such as WeMixPlay, a blockchain-oriented gaming hub, and WePublic, a service that enables users to create and manage decentralized autonomous organizations. Park conveyed that the company aspires to position WeMixPlay as the global choice for gamers and utilize WePublic to enhance blockchain adoption. Nonetheless, precise information regarding the characteristics of these blockchain-driven communities or a timeline for their introduction has yet to be clarified.

Wemade has engaged in blockchain ventures for some time now. In late 2023, the Seongnam-based firm partnered with Singapore’s Whampoa Digital to establish a $100 million web3 fund, focusing specifically on blockchain gaming initiatives, particularly in the Middle East. Former CEO Henry Chang regarded this collaboration as an opportunity for both parties to exchange knowledge and deepen their understanding of blockchain technology.
