Former Contestant Sounds Alarm on Chatty Players in Ex-Traitors Showdown

A participant from last year’s season of The Traitors has shared her strategies for identifying potential “traitors” as the third season commenced with significant plot developments.

In the popular BBC reality television series, contestants designated as traitors must covertly “murder” their fellow players, referred to as “faithfuls”, who strive to uncover and “banish” them from the game before becoming the next target.

Charlotte Chilton, hailing from Warwickshire, was a faithful in the second season of the series. The season concluded with traitor Harry Clark emerging victorious, taking home over £95,000 in cash prizes.

Her advice includes interrogating “anyone who speaks too much” and she cautioned against presuming that a fellow contestant is too kind to be a traitor.

In an interview with the BBC, Ms. Chilton remarked: “Harry, I never believed was capable of being a traitor. But actually when you view it again, you realize, of course he was.

“If I were to enter now, regardless of how lovely and amazing you are, I wouldn’t trust it.”

Reflecting on her experiences in the program, Ms. Chilton expressed: “You walk in with a bit of naivety and you don’t comprehend that it’s all at stake.”

She stated in retrospect that “nothing is beyond limits”.

Ms. Chilton mentioned she had “loved” viewing the premiere episode of the new season.

“I really relished it as I was unaware of what was unfolding this time, so it brought an additional layer of excitement this year for me,” she stated.

The former contestant also expressed her enjoyment of the two reveals regarding the show’s format that were unveiled in Wednesday night’s episode, describing it as “cut-throat”.

“The one thing I would convey is that watching it evokes so much more empathy for each participant now, as it is incredibly challenging,” she said.

“I have watched an hour of what likely spanned over two days of filming, and in reality, there would have been significantly more discussions occurring.”

Ms. Chilton also noted that many of the new contestants had contacted her and fellow players from the second season prior to their turn in the game, and she was thrilled that new individuals were “joining the Traitors family”.

“We all try to gather whenever we can, we make an effort to meet [up],” she revealed regarding her bond with her former co-contestants, stating that Charlie Bees stayed with Ms. Chilton during the New Year celebration.

While audiences will gradually become familiar with this year’s contestants throughout the series, Ms. Chilton asserted that it would be challenging for people to predict the moves the participants would undertake.

“[The show is] structured on taking ordinary individuals and placing them in this extremely stressful environment and observing their actions,” she remarked.

“You simply have to witness it unfold.”
