Hofstra Athletics Kicks Off CAA Action with Dramatic Pride Showdown!

Hempstead, NY – Jaquan Sanders guided the Pride with 15 points and Jean Aranguren contributed 10 points along with seven assists; however, William & Mary capitalized on a significant first-half surge, triumphing over the Hofstra men’s basketball team, 74-56, on Thursday night at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. 

With this defeat, Hofstra’s record stands at 8-6 overall and 0-1 in CAA competition. Conversely, William & Mary improved to 7-7 and 1-0 in league action. 

German Plotnikov chipped in eight points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals for the Pride, who also saw contributions of 12 points from TJ Gadsden and six points, four rebounds, and three blocks from Joshua DeCady. 

Matteus Case led William & Mary with 15 points, while Kyle Frazier and Noah Collier each delivered 12 points for the Tribe. 

The Pride will embark on their first road trip of the conference season on Saturday, heading to Northeastern for a 12 p.m. matchup.

– Hofstra’s historical record against William & Mary now stands at 29-16. 

– Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Mack Sports Complex (the facility was inaugurated with a 74-46 Hofstra victory over Boston University on January 2, 2000).
