Expect perilous travel conditions as roadways are likely to be slick with possible reduced visibility from drifting snow across sections of the U.P. This affects the western and eastern counties as lake effect snow flurries continue along the northwest wind patterns. Intensities will generally be light to moderate, though they could sporadically increase to heavier bands. This should gradually diminish by tomorrow. The majority of the U.P. will stay dry through the weekend with chilly temperatures. Additional snowfall over the next three days may accumulate between 3-6″ in the higher elevations of the Western counties. In the Eastern counties of Alger, Luce, and Northern Schoolcraft, snowfall amounts could range from 6-10″. Areas of North Central, including Baraga and Marquette counties, will see minimal accumulation, ranging from 1-3″, with less than an inch expected in the city of Marquette. The overall pattern remains colder than the usual, which will sustain intermittent lake effect snow in the forecast extending into next week.
