Prepare for a Wintry Wonderland: Monday’s Snowfall and Travel Tips!

Snow enthusiasts – while I wouldn’t raise your expectations too high for significant snow on Monday, a light dusting to a few inches of snow remains feasible. The outcome relies on the storm’s trajectory, which should become increasingly clear this evening and as the weekend commences. The heaviest impact of this winter storm will actually be significantly south of the Hudson Valley this time. Whether you welcome some snow or consider it bothersome, at this juncture, it is wise to prepare for what could turn into a slippery travel day on Monday, even if this may not be a substantial snowstorm locally.

If the trajectory stays further south, the lower Hudson Valley may receive virtually nothing north of I-84 and possibly just a dusting to two inches at most, closer to the coast.

If the trajectory shifts a little more north, there’s a possibility of receiving up to four inches of snow. However, this is not the most favorable scenario at the moment!

According to the latest data available today, the likely scenario is closer to a dusting to two inches of snow at the most, but this could be adjusted slightly as more accurate information arrives this evening and through the weekend. Aside from that, prepare to bundle up for a while! Today will be mostly dry, breezy, and chilly with only a slight chance of flurries. Colder temperatures are expected to arrive this weekend. Highs today will be around 38 degrees, but it may feel like the 20s at times during the afternoon due to sporadic wind gusts of a little over 20 mph.

This weekend, high temperatures will be in the low 30s, with wind chills ranging in the teens and 20s, caused by wind gusts possibly reaching around 30 mph.

Following Monday’s near-miss with some light snow, the cold will persist! The remainder of next week is projected to be cold and breezy, but dry, with highs only in the upper 20s to low 30s.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny and windy with highs around 34 degrees. Wind chills in the 20s at best. Lows around 24 degrees.

MONDAY: (STORM WATCH) Overcast with potential periods of light snow. Accumulation from a trace to a few inches of snow is possible depending on the storm’s track for Monday. The most plausible scenario at this time indicates a dusting to one or two inches of snow which could lead to slippery travel during midday. Highs around 32 degrees. Lows near 20 degrees.
