The Women of West Coast Photography: Then and Now
Friday, April 25, 2:00 – 3:00pm
Venue: The Carmel Foundation Corner of Lincoln and 8th, Carmel CA
Complimentary for the public, no prior registration or membership necessary

Buckle up for an exhilarating journey through the artistry, personalities, and achievements of the courageous and creative women photographers who significantly influenced West Coast Photography in our celebrated area. We will appreciate the distinctive images from talented trailblazers such as Ann Brigman, who captured landscapes and nudes along Carmel’s coastline in the early 1900s (prior to f/64), and also delve into the works of Sonya Noskowiak and Imogen Cunningham, pioneers of the f/64 movement in the 1930s. We will traverse the 20th century with Edna Bullock, Dorothea Lange, Ruth Bernhard, among others, leading up to recent generations of visual artists including today’s photographers: Sally Mann, Judy Dater, Linda Connor, Martha Casanave, and Cara Weston, to name a few.

Join us in honoring the women photographers whose creative contributions have shaped West Coast Photography into what it is now.
