Trailblazers Descend on ETSU for an Unforgettable Exhibition Experience

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — East Tennessee State University triumphed over Tusculum University with a score of 103-55 during the women’s basketball matchup on Thursday night at Brooks Gymnasium. This contest served as an exhibition for the Division II Pioneers, while the Bucs advanced their record to 9-6 following the victory.

The Bucs featured four athletes scoring in double digits, with Brecken Snotherly leading the pack with 19 points. Courtney Moore added 17 points, and Kendall Folley contributed 15 points along with six assists as ETSU shot 49.4 percent (43-for-87) from the field. Paige Lyons also contributed by scoring 12 points off the bench for ETSU.

Ni’Kiah Chesterfield topped the Pioneers’ scoring with 14 points and six rebounds. Danyell Booker registered seven points and eight rebounds while Josie Horner added seven points for Tusculum, which shot 37.3 percent (22-for-59) as a team and committed 31 turnovers.

For Tusculum, Jenna Kallenberg, Jalyn Spurlin, and Zoe Sharpe each netted six points, with Abbi Douglas matching Booker for the team-high in rebounds at eight. The Pioneers outmatched the Bucs in the rebounding department 46-39, with Isabella Hunt of ETSU leading the rebounds with nine boards in just 16 minutes off the bench.

ETSU maintained the lead throughout the game, finishing the first quarter at 25-18 and extending the margin to 47-32 by halftime. The second half was dominated by the Bucs, who outscored Tusculum 56-23, including a staggering 29-6 in the final quarter. ETSU capitalized on Tusculum’s turnovers, scoring 37 points, and outpaced the Pioneers 32-4 in fast break points.

Tusculum will continue its South Atlantic Conference schedule on Saturday, January 4, when Limestone comes to Pioneer Arena for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
