LOGAN, Utah – The gymnastics squad at Utah State is set to kick off its 2025 competition season this week against the fifth-ranked Utah on Friday, January 3, at 7 p.m.

Utah State will commence the meet on bars while Utah will start on vault. The competition will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Jim Watson (play-by-play) and Alisa Mowe (analyst) providing commentary.

Utah State, chosen second in the Mountain West preseason coaches’ survey, welcomes back 14 gymnasts from last year’s team including graduates Brianna Brooks, Jenna Eagles, and Angel Stuart, seniors Amari Evans, Payton Gatzlaff, and Dani Kirstine, juniors Avery Bibbey, Marley Peterson, and Chelsea Southam, and sophomores Sydney Jelen, Nyla Morabito, Isabella Vater, Mya Witte, and Hattie Wright. USU has also introduced three newcomers with freshmen Kaylie Medrano, Olivia Orengo, and Lundyn VanderToolen.

Utah State concluded the 2024 season with a record of 8-18 overall, including 2-4 within the Mountain West, and secured second place at the MW Championships with a season-high score of 196.500. USU began the meet with a season-best of 49.275 on beam, followed by 49.275 on floor, 48.750 on vault, and 49.200 on bars. That total of 196.500 is the fifth-highest home score in the program’s history and the highest achieved under White.

Brooks claimed the sole event title for Utah State at the 2024 MW Championships with a season-high-tying score of 9.900 on bars. She also achieved second place in the all-around with a total of 39.300.

Brooks was the only Aggie competing at the 2024 NCAA Regional Championships, tying for first on bars with a season-high-tying score of 9.900 at the California Regional.

In 2024, Brooks was honored as the NCAA North Central Region (Region 2) Gymnast of the Year for the second consecutive season and was one of three Aggies to earn all-MW recognition, as she secured second-team honors on bars and in the all-around.

Utah State concluded the 2024 season ranked eighth in the North Central Region and 45th nationally with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 195.835. USU also ranked sixth in the region and 38th in the nation on bars (49.100), seventh in the region and 46th nationwide on floor (49.190), eighth in the region and 52nd nationally on beam (48.860), and eighth in the region and 53rd in the country on vault (48.900).
