ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Following a competitive break of nearly a month, the Navy men’s swimming and diving team (9-3) triumphed in all 16 events, securing a 158-125 win against Towson (3-1-1), on Saturday at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis.

“I was truly satisfied with the team’s show today,” expressed Navy head coach Bill Roberts.  “They have performed exceptionally well since we came back from the holiday break and resumed our training.  It was evident today that what we have emphasized over the past weeks was visible.  We are thrilled with today’s outcome, with returning to training, and looking ahead to our upcoming contests.”

The Mids kicked off the meet by clinching the 200 medley relay by 1.78 seconds with a time of 1:29.21.

Navy swimmers secured the top three positions in 11 out of the 12 individual events.

Claiming two victories each were Everet Andrew and Ben Irwin.  Andrew triumphed in the 200 free (1:38.65) and the 500 free races (4:34.47), while Irwin excelled in the 100 back (49.06) and 200 back events (1:46.57).

Also joining the swimmers in achieving multiple victories was diver Blakeman Shaw, who notched scores of 289.88 to win the three-meter board and 272.18 to take first place in the one-meter competition.

Additional event winners in the meet’s first half included Dean Jones for the 1000 free (9:32.89), Nate Sukeena in the 100 breast (56.52), Tyler Kaminski for the 200 fly (1:50.71), and Gavin Green in the 50 free (20.80).

Austin Lockhart commenced the second half of the meet by winning the 100 free with a time of 45.31.  Juan Mora soon recorded a time of 2:02.76 to take the 200 breast.  Coleman Yates won the 100 fly (49.48) and Stephan Aguirre emerged victorious in the 200 IM (1:51.22) to conclude the individual events.

Navy capped the afternoon with a winning time of 1:21.64 in the 200 free relay.

The Navy men’s and women’s teams are set to head to New Jersey next week for a Friday-Saturday dual meet against the NCAA Division III powerhouse Kenyon at Princeton.
