Flagpole Photographers Unveils Exciting January Lineup – The Newtown Bee

Members of the community are invited to participate in the Flagpole Photographers Camera Club as it launches 2025 with an enlightening program titled “Taking Your Photography to the Next Level,” on Thursday, January 9, from 7:30 to 9 pm. The session will be held at Newtown Senior Center, located at 8 Simpson Street, as well as online.

Participants will discover how to handle lighting issues, choose the appropriate focusing techniques, and select the best lenses for their photography needs. Following this, a practical session will be available, allowing attendees to put these techniques into practice. It’s encouraged that participants bring along their cameras or smartphones.

Subsequently, on Thursday, January 23, the club will conduct its monthly contest night, showcasing members’ photographs in categories including Nature, Open Color, Open Monochrome, Assigned Subject, and Monthly Challenge. The theme for January’s competition will be Forced Perspective, with the monthly challenge concentrating on Negative Space.

This event will also occur at the senior center and online, commencing at 7:30 pm, with socializing commencing at 7.

Flagpole Photographers Camera Club is a local nonprofit entity that provides an inviting environment for photographers of every expertise level — from novices to veterans — to exhibit their work, learn, and interact with others. Attendance for meetings or competitions incurs no cost, and new members are perpetually welcomed.
