Florida’s Wave of Celebration: Honoring Senior Swimmers and Divers This Friday vs. Indiana!

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The men’s and women’s swimming and diving squads of Florida are set to commence the new year with a home event, where they will pay tribute to their seniors on Friday during the dual meet with Indiana. The senior recognition ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., with the main competitions starting at 1:00 p.m. The men’s 3-meter diving and women’s 1-meter diving will take place earlier at 10:00 a.m.

All-Time Series versus Indiana
Friday will be the fifth encounter between the two teams, with the Florida men’s team leading the all-time series with a 4-0 record. The women aim to enhance their 1-3 all-time series standing against Indiana.

Previous Performance of Gators
The Gators are making their first outing since Nov. 22, 2024, when they won the Georgia Fall Invitational for the second consecutive year. The men amassed a total of 1,157.5 points, while the women recorded 1,156.5 points. Over three days of competitions, the Gators achieved 23 program top-10 times and set five school records.

Senior Day Observance
Florida recognizes the achievements of 12 Gators on Friday prior to the main events at 12:30 p.m. This senior group has accumulated 39 All-American accolades, five SEC Championships, 14 SEC titles, and four national championships. Three seniors have been selected for the 2024-25 U.S. Swimming National Team, and one is a two-time Olympic medalist. Academically, this group has appeared on the SEC Academic Honor Roll 30 times and boasts over 10 CSCAA Scholar All-American distinctions.

About Indiana
Under the leadership of Head Coach Ray Looze and Head Diving Coach Drew Johansen, the Hoosier men and women secured victories at the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Conference Championships last season, wrapping up their regular season with an 8-0 dual meet record. The men placed fourth at the 2024 NCAA Championships, with the Hoosiers winning six of the nine available diving medals; two gold, two silver, and two bronze. The women’s team finished seventh at the 2024 NCAA Championships.

The No. 2 Indiana men’s team has secured one dual-meet victory over Cincinnati and suffered one dual-meet defeat against No. 1 Texas. They commenced their 2024-25 season at the SMU Classic on Oct. 11, where nine members triumphed over then-No. 10 Virginia Tech, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 13 Louisville, No. 16 Auburn, and No. 19 Auburn. Indiana then achieved first place at the Ohio State Invitational on Nov. 23, scoring 2,995.5 points over three days to best No. 10 Louisville, No. 11 Ohio State, Yale, Penn State, Cincinnati, Northwestern, and Notre Dame.

The No. 6 women’s team holds a 2-1 record in dual meets during the 2024-25 season. Indiana finished first at the Ohio State Invitational on Nov. 23, tallying 2,526.5 points throughout the three-day event to defeat No. 8 Louisville, No. 13 Ohio State, No. 24 UCLA, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Penn State, Yale, Rutgers, and Northwestern. Indiana has secured dual-meet victories against Notre Dame and Cincinnati, while losing to No. 2 Texas.
