He enjoyed a three-game streak where he scored five goals between December 7-14, along with 14 shots on goal and two blocks throughout the month.

In four of the six games, he recorded at least one point, which included two multi-point performances at Bemidji State on December 13 and 14. During faceoff situations, he succeeded in winning 55 of 106 draws (51.9%).

Morrell shares the top spot on his team with eight goals this season, ranking fifth among NCAA freshmen. He currently stands fourth in the CCHA for faceoff winning percentage (.567).

Tanner Klimpke from Robert Morris was recognized as HCA Men’s National Player of the Month for December, and Kristoffer Eberly, a freshman from Ohio State University, received the honor of Men’s National Goaltender of the Month.

Morrell is the third player from CCHA to gain national distinction this season, joining Goaltenders of the Month Alex Tracy (Minnesota State) and Josh Kotai (Augustana) recognized in November and October, respectively.
